As an avid reader of DamirDoma.Paperrain, and a sucker for anything Damir, I was shocked when this gem flew right over my head! Thankfully I had a chance to stop by.
Silent by Damir Doma set up a SS12 pop-up shop at Mexico Showroom, here in New York! It’s located on 22D Howard St.
The collections noticeable African inspired print was painted on the entrance of the store by artist Andrew Medlin. The shadowed greys, and blacks are accented with the bright green garments scattered throughout the showroom, as the print’s hard black strokes guide you through like hypnotic waves. Damir Doma describes it as “an invitation into [his] world… a white desert – a spiritual and silent place” It really pulls you in. Read more on the pop-up and collection here.
I had a chance to meet and talk with David at the showroom, who informed me of some future developments with pop-up store while it’s still here (until 5/5/2012), so keep a look out, and pay it a visits! Jealously, I noticed he was wearing the FW12 sweater from the last look, which lead to me having a mini (and when I say mini, I mean a peak in a closet) glimpse at the fall collection, and… I’m hoping there’s a FW12 pop-up too! Actually, fingers crossed on a future store.
